Hey There!

My name is Leandra du Pau, I’m an illustrator living and working from Strijp-S, Eindhoven, The Netherlands.

In my illustrations I explore the beauty in moments when nothing happens and time feels slow; traveling, hiking in nature, reading a book under a blanket, or watching my rabbits take their nap in the sun in the middle of the day.

Many of my unproductive moments are spent with my two bunnies Konijn and Meisje, and you’ll often find them in my work where they symbolize being gentle, to yourself but also to others and to animals. Besides being gentle, the bunnies can also be very curious and adventurous, which is why I often draw them exploring new places, like Japan.

On my trip to Japan I visited Hakone, Kyoto, Tokyo, Nara and Osaka. Japanese culture fascinates me especially because of the way many Japanese traditions appreciate the value of slowing down.

In my illustrations I use soft tones and atmospheres to portray these moments and by sharing them I hope to share the idea that unproductive moments are worth our time.

I create my illustrations using digital pens and textures I made to resemble a medium I love: felt tip pens.

I enjoy working on assignments that value nature, animals and mental health as much as I do. In the past I've collaborated with Flow magazine (The Netherlands), Flow magazin (Germany), DICHTER and PLINT, Knust press, Tea stories, Jeroen Bosch Ziekenhuis, Revalidatiecentrum Tolbrug, and Judith Peeters for Radboud Universiteit Nijmegen.

I'm looking forward to working with more conscious, mindful and kind brands, publishers and people on projects that can make a difference in the future.

In July 2016 I graduated from St. Joost s’Hertogenbosch and was awarded the ‘JBZ Award 2016’ for my ‘Sleep’ and ‘Solitude’ projects.
